This video is adorable and I think it speaks to gender roles and stereotypes of "masculinity" and "femininity" and how those roles intersect with our relationships to animals.
I think really that if you're not a sociopath, any small amount of empathy, regardless of whether or not you're a "manly man" will let you interact with animals in a loving and caring way. It's one way for someone to present themselves to another person to maintain reputation, but there is no need for that concerning animals as innocent as the kitten.
